Product care tips

In general, your jewelry will last longer if they are kept away from moisture and harsh chemicals or lotions. Avoid wearing jewelry in the pool or shower if possible unless it states water-proof or water-resistant in the product details.

Plated metals don’t need a lot of care, just wipe with an untreated cloth to shine them up again.

To extend the life of your jewelry, it should be stored in a cool, dry place when possible. When not in use, place in a jewelry bag, travel case or even a ziplock bag.

**Sterling silver, vermeil, 1/20 14k gold-filled, and steel metals are all considered to be hypoallergenic.**

GOLD-FILLED

Gold-filled jewelry is composed of a solid layer of gold bonded to a base metal, usually jeweler’s brass. Jewelry made of this metal is water and tarnish resistant.  Avoid harsh chemicals (i.e. perfumes, soaps, and certain lotions) when wearing it.

VERMEIL

Vermeil (pronounced ver-may) is sterling silver that has been gilded with 10k gold or higher.  Vermeil is a quality demi-fine jewelry option made entirely of precious metals, and pieces made with it do require more gentle care than other metals.  Avoid exercising, swimming, and bathing with vermeil elements.  Make sure perfumes and lotions do not come in contact with it, and clean only with a damp soft cloth, as it can scratch more easily than other metals.  Do not immerse vermeil in liquid solutions, even water.

STAINLESS/TITANIUM STEEL

Stainless and titanium steel are very durable metals and are highly water and tarnish resistant.  Steel pieces are tarnish and water resistant.  The plating process on the gold-plated steel pieces make it long-lasting and is water resistant. Care should be given to avoid harsh chemicals like some perfumes, lotions, and hair and body sprays.

BRASS

Solid brass that is unplated will naturally darken/patina over time. To bring the shine back, you can polish it with a silver cloth or polishing pad. Don't put any chemicals on it or use any liquid cleaners or chemicals.

All you need is a great polishing cloth, or soap and water. You can use a little bit of dish soap with a soft toothbrush or sponge (a more abrasive sponge can be used if the tarnish is deep).  Wash carefully, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth or polishing square.

Try not to wear your jewelry in the pool, as the chemicals will oxidize and change the appearance of your metals. Try not to sleep or sweat in them either, as this can change the patina on your metals very quickly.

Store your jewelry in a dry place. Moisture leads to tarnish. To slow down the natural tarnishing process, store in a small ziplock bag.
